Who this policy covers
This policy covers the iPhone app BP Notebook (the app), made by the independent developer LI YAN-SHAN.
Data kept on your iPhone
The blood pressure, pulse, time and time of day, tags (arm, posture, before or after a meal, which monitor), notes, names of the people you record for, reminders and settings you enter are kept only in the app's storage on your iPhone. The app keeps one automatic backup a day on the same iPhone for 14 days.
If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, this data is included in your own device backup as iOS is set up to do. We have no access to your iPhone or your backups.
Apple Health
The app reads or writes Health data only after you allow it, and you can allow just some types.
- Read: blood pressure and heart rate; and, if you choose to use them in reports, trends or suggestions, weight, height, date of birth (for your age), resting heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen, sleep, steps, exercise and mindful minutes, sodium, potassium, caffeine, alcohol, hypertension notifications and the medications you pick.
- Written: the blood pressure and heart rate you log in the app. Readings imported from a CSV file are never written to Health.
This data is used only on your iPhone, to show your readings, make reports and give suggestions. It is never used for advertising, never shared with anyone and never uploaded. You can turn access off at any time in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices.
Reminders
Notifications and alarms are scheduled by iOS on your iPhone and don't pass through any server.
Reports, exports and sharing
PDF reports, CSV files and backup files are made on your iPhone. They leave it only when you share them yourself, with whoever you choose; after that, the recipient's own practices apply.
Purchases
Apple handles Pro subscriptions. We never receive your name, payment details or Apple Account. The app only asks Apple whether you have Pro. Apple's privacy policy explains how Apple handles purchase data.
Crashes and diagnostics
If you choose to share with app developers in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, Apple gives us crash reports and usage statistics that don't identify you. We use them only to fix problems.
Deleting your data
- Settings > Export and backup > Delete all readings in the app deletes one person's readings. Today's automatic backup keeps them for a while so the deletion can be undone.
- Deleting the app deletes all of its data on your iPhone, automatic backups included.
- Readings already written to Health are deleted in the Health app.
Children
The app is made for adults keeping track of their blood pressure. We don't collect anyone's data, children's included.
Your rights
As we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct or delete. If you have any question about privacy, please write to us.
Changes
If the way the app handles data changes, we'll update this page and the date below first. If the app ever starts collecting any data, it will tell you and ask for your consent first.
